Canvas Health is proud to provide comprehensive care and support for veterans, active duty military, and their families through culturally sensitive care. We have a deep respect for those who serve and strive to provide mental health and substance use care that is free of judgement.
We understand that seeking help requires a great deal of courage and will work tirelessly to help those who have served, and their families, in their pursuit of healing.
Common symptoms of a mental health condition include feelings of sadness, anxiety, distress, and emotional pain. This can cause you to lose sleep, dramatically change your usual patterns, or neglect personal care and hygiene. If you feel like this describes you, or someone close to you, it may be a good idea to seek the help of a mental health professional.
For current or former members of the military, this is often a very hard call to make. However, it is the duty of service men and women to stay in good health for the sake of those they serve beside. If you’re concerned that you, or someone you know, may have a mental health condition, do not be concerned that it could affect your standing in the armed forces. United States service members are not required to disclose mental health problems to their chain of command.
If you are transitioning to civilian life, the process can impact your feelings of self-worth or cause unusual stresses and strains on your significant relationships at home, at work, at school, and in your community. It is not uncommon for mental health struggles to occur during this period of time. If you are feeling that the symptoms of a mental health condition are affecting your everyday life, seeking help can be beneficial.
“My goal is to help people with mental illness achieve their best, especially during times of crisis.”
– Rodney Gayle, LGSW
