Canvas Health offers undergraduate students seeking field placements in a Substance Use program opportunities in several areas of the agency – these include outpatient clinics, corrections/jails, and school-based programming. Opportunities to work with both adults and adolescents are available, with options of completing 440 hours or 880 hours based on the student and college requirements.
Internship opportunities are limited, with an application and interview process for most placements. If you are interested in applying for placement with Canvas Health, complete the application form, and submit to us at internships@canvashealth.org.
Interns will initially shadow an assigned clinician in-office or on-site, and gradually build their own caseload of clients, while receiving supervision, training on the agency’s electronic health record system, and collaboration/sign-off on field placement forms. Learners will participate in chemical health assessments, provide group therapy and individual sessions, collaborate with community, and complete all documentation required. Age range depends on location; all groups are co-ed.
Canvas Health offers several treatment programs for clients who have problems with substance use to help bring about substantial and lasting change. Our programs emphasize the importance of reshaping a view of substance use issues into a more strengths-based perspective by providing holistic, effective, and culturally relevant programming.
